Eucalyptus to breathe better

Taking a hot shower can release the tension that accumulated during the day, relax us, improve our mood. If we also hang a branch of eucalyptus in the rain, it can improve our airways.

But we can add one more benefit to this recharge of energy: breathing in a deep, sweet and minty smell that mixes with the steam, a distinctive aroma typical of the eucalyptus tree.

- Placing a bouquet of eucalyptus in the shower, its essential oil is released with the steam of the water, so keeping a few branches in the shower activates the beneficial properties of this plant.

Eucalyptus syrup

It is a very effective remedy for the treatment of colds and coughs. The dry leaves are used taking care that they have the conical and large coquito. 50 grams of dried leaves with their coquitos are placed in ½ liter of freshly boiled hot water, and left to macerate for 12 hours. Then it is strained and 850 grams of sugar is dissolved in the resulting liquid, heating over low heat to favor the combination, but without boiling. Once the syrup is formed, let it rest until it cools.

A liter of drink has to come out; if less comes out, add water. To obtain curative effects, take one tablespoon every two hours. The same can be done with fresh leaves, but then the amount available is double that calculated for dry leaves.
