Potentilla, herbaceous plant of the Rosaceae, is widespread in Europe and Italy especially in its annual version and can also become a weed if herbaceous. As a bush or shrub, it is more pleasant and appreciated. In truth, since ancient times it has been a much loved plant for its healing qualities. Its name derives from the Latin "potens", precisely because it is used in Europe and Asia, its places of origin, as a theonic or as an astringent. Flowers, leaves and roots, all of the Potentilla comes in handy, it's a zero-waste species.

Potentilla: plant and its characteristics

Cultivable both in pots and in the ground, the Potentilla it has deciduous leaves, of a color that goes from green to blue but on the back they seem silver, also because they are covered with a light light down. The leaves are composed of many tiny leaflets, from 3 to 7, each 3 cm long.

THE flowers appear in late March and they stay until October and look a lot like those of the strawberry and wild roses, just to give us an idea. They consist of 5 petals, lunghi and yellow in color, but they are also seen more towards red or white, orange or pink.

It can easily exceed one meter in height reaching 160 cm, in mid-spring it begins to bloom and continues until the beginning of autumn, it gives cloaks of tints flowers close to yellow but knows how to surprise with even courageous shades, always in contrast with the dark and green leaves.

Potentilla Erecta

Is called Erecta, but this Potentilla it is not very high, indeed, it does not exceed 50-60 cm: it is herbaceous and perennial and blooms in summer. It does this by producing yellow, light and dark petals, in abundance, until late autumn.

Potentilla Nitida

The smallest absolutely among all Potentille is this, the Nitida. A perennial herbaceous plant that is no more than seven centimeters tall. Yet she has all the courage and the desire to flourish, just like the other colleagues, in the summer, and showing off beautiful white or pink corollas.

It is not for everyone. Wonderful colors even those of Atrosanguinea: perennial herbaceous, up to 60 cm in height, source of purple flowers with corolla of orange color.
