Fertilizer for tomatoes: what nutrients are needed to meet the needs of tomato plants. Soil, compost and fertilizer for healthy and resistant plants with large, sweet and red tomatoes.

Similarly to what happens to us humans, the plant kingdom can also suffer from nutritional deficiencies.

A soil poor in certain micronutrients can predispose tomato plantsto a large number of diseases. Plants that grow on poor soil tend to be more fragile.

Fertilize tomatoes as nutrients

For humans, micronutrients areiron, calcium, phosphorus, vitamins and other mineral salts. For thetomato plantsthe micronutrients essential for the growth and optimal development of fruits are:

  • Copper (Cu)
  • Manganese(Mn)
  • Iron (Fe
  • Zinc(Zn)

Macronutrients, for us humans, are proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. For tomato plants, however, we have:

  • Nitrogen(N)
  • Football(Ca)
  • Sulfur (S)
  • Magnesium(Mg)
  • Potassium(K)
  • Phosphorus(P)

This means a good onefertilizer for tomatoesmust bring, in the right proportions, all these elements or in any case go tocompensateto the shortcomings of our land.

Zinc, sulfur, iron and copper behave from"Growth activators"and generally a deficiency is felt only in the very early stages of seedling development. If your tomato plant (grown in pots or in the garden) has already grown, it can better resist these deficiencies.

Pay close attention!

Make your assessments and administer water taking into account the real water needs of the plants and not your appointments! The plants should not be irrigated only when you have time ... the tomato does not need a lot of water but needs constant irrigation, without water stress.

On this page I report an excellent onefertilizer for tomatoestested by myself for several years already. I have always been fond of tomato varieties such as:datterino, yellow tomato from Vesuvius, ox heart, Sorrento tomato and sweet cherry tomato. These are varieties that give their bestsweet taste and a correct fertilization helps to enhance the flavor of the tomato. I use it for these cultivars, but all the fertilizers you find on the market you can use them for any tomato variety.

The fertilizer for tomatoes that I have been using for a long time is calledMaxicropand the one kg package can be bought on Amazon at a price of 11.76 euros with free shipping costs.

In detail, the formulation provides the soil with most of the nutrients necessary for the optimal development oftomato plantsand above all to the production of the fruits. For completeness I point out i"Hot spots"of the composition:

  • Nitrogen (8%)
  • Phosphorus (5%)
  • Potassium (6%)
  • Calcium (15%)
  • Manganese (5%)
  • Magnesium (6.5%)

The elements mentioned are counted in the form ofoxidesand are of natural origin. For this reason the fertilizer is also indicated in the organic method.

For all information, I refer you to the product sheet:Maxicrop natural fertilizer.
